(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A Lynn woman is facing larceny charges after she reportedly stole her friend's
cancer medication and replaced it with Ibuprofen.
Donna Welch-Gowan, 46, was released on personal recognizance during a hearing
on Monday and is due back in court Aug. 2 for a probable cause hearing after
she reportedly tampered with her friend's cancer pain medication, reports The
Lynn Daily Item.
The victim who is a stage 2 cancer patient told police that she believed
Welch-Gowan took the keys to the safe where she keeps her medication and stole
more than 100 Neurotin pills, as well as other medication.
According to the paper, the victim first realized that her medication had been
tampered with on June 21 following a trip to Massachusetts General Hospital. She was experiencing seizures, and a doctor
informed her that she had an unusual amount of Ibuprofen in her system.
