MALDEN (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A man returned back to his Charles Street apartment Tuesday night in Malden when he saw a python curled up on his porch.
Animal Control was called in and took away the snake, which they believe is a red-tailed python.
The snake was not fully grown, only about four-feet long and was probably someone's pet.
News of the unusual find spread fast as even Malden's mayor showed up to check it out.
City officials say reptile owners are required to register their reptiles in case they do get out.
If no one claims the snake, it will be put up for adoption.
