Holyoke fire official retires after photo shoot

Posted: Updated:

HOLYOKE (AP) — The mayor of Holyoke has confirmed that the abrupt retirement of a deputy fire chief was related in part to his unauthorized permission for scantily-clad models to pose for photographs with fire trucks and other department equipment on city property.

Mayor Alex Morse tells The Republican of Springfield (http://bit.ly/KXGf2b) that another issue that led to the retirement this week of Deputy Chief Timothy Moran was an investigation into Moran's involvement in an incident a year ago that resulted in criminal charges against his brother.

Moran was suspended five days without pay by Fire Chief John Pond after the chief learned of the June photo shoot.

Morse said the photo shoot was "poor judgment."

Moran retired after 20 years on the force. He refused to talk to a reporter.
