Sox look to end first half by spanking Yanks

Posted: Updated:

Fresh off a sweep at the hands of the Oakland A's, the Red Sox will look to exact some vengeance on the New York Yankees this weekend at Fenway.

The Sox dropped three games earlier this week to the Athletics and another two to the Mariners during a seven-game West Coast trip.

Josh Beckett will take the mound opposite Hiroki Kuroda in Friday's game to kick off the four game home stand that will close out the first half of their 2012 season.

If the Sox get the sweep, they will be three and a half games behind the Yankees in the AL East.

Darnell McDonald, who was scooped up on waivers by the Yankees this week, will mark his return to Fenway in pinstripes.

Friday's game starts at 7:10 p.m.
