NEW BEDFORD (AP) - Massachusetts state police detectives and local police are investigating the shooting death of a 31-year-old man in New Bedford.
Authorities said on Saturday that Julio Barbosa was fatally shot Friday night near the intersection of Cove Street and Rodney French Boulevard.
He was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital, where physicians pronounced him dead.
No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting and police have not named suspects.
The Bristol County District Attorney's office says police received a 911 call reporting the shooting shortly after 10:15 p.m. Friday.
Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area of the shooting or has any information regarding the shooting to contact New Bedford police or send an anonymous tip to prosecutors.
