A 20-foot-by-30-foot U.S. flag that was stolen from a veteran's monument in Swampscott has been found.
First Church Swampscott Administrator Cathy Vaucher told Fox 25 News that a member of her parish located the flag Monday, right on her doorstep.
Vaucher said the man, named Gordon Angel, called to ask her if she knew there was a flag folded on the church's front steps Monday morning. That flag, as it turned out, was the flag that went missing from the town's World War I honor roll last week.
The flag was paid for by the family of Army Spc. Jared Raymond who was killed in Iraq in 2006.
Vaucher said Angel runs the church food pantry with his wife.
The town fire department retrieved the flag.
