ORLEANS (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - We knew they were near the Cape and the picture says it all: a dorsal fin breaking the waterline, right behind a kayaker.
Walter Szulc was spending Saturday with his family at Nauset Beach. He said earlier in the day, he was joking around with his daughter about the chances of actually spotting a shark in the water.
Szulc says he was about 150 feet out when a paddle-boarder nearby pointed out what was in the water directly behind him. He says he couldn't paddle too fast or else he would have flipped over.
He did make it safely to shore and the shark turned back out to sea. Believe it or not, Szulc was back in the water just hours later, bodysurfing.
An expert confirmed to FOX 25's Chief Meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz that the shark was a Basking Shark, which only eats Plankton.
