NORTH DARTMOUTH (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – An amusement landmark is now a thing of the past.
SKYFOX was above the Comet Roller Coaster at the Old Lincoln Park in North Dartmouth Wednesday morning as crews began tearing down the entrance to the once popular ride.
The Herald News reports that the Comet will be completely gone in about a month.
The roller coaster took people on one last ride in 1987 and has been empty ever since.
The park has called Route 6 home for nearly 100 years. Single family homes, apartment buildings and commercial space will be built in its place.
The fir wood used for the coaster will be used to make Adirondack chairs that will be sold for charity.
