Posted: Updated:

FALL RIVER (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) Fall River Police are looking for a suspect whose attempts at robbing Sunny's Convenience Store were thwarted by a bat-wielding store clerk.

Police say a man entered the store at 562 North Main Street just around 2:50 p.m. on Monday. With a large knife in hand, the man demanded money from the clerk.

The clerk responded by throwing a jug of water, striking the suspect. The suspect then tried unlocking the door leading to the register as the clerk armed himself with a metal baseball bat.

The clerk swung the bat and hit the suspect in the arm. As he lifted the bat to swing again, the suspect fled the store.

Officials say the suspect is a white man, thin build, 5'6" to 5'7" tall, who was wearing a black hoodie at the time of the robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Fall River Police.
