Detroit City Council is expected to consider a plan approved by the city's financial advisory board that would make more than $100 million in cuts to the unionized workforce.
The board approved the plan, which calls for a 10-percent wage cut and significant changes to health care and work rules, on Thursday.
Even if council votes down the plan, the financial board can implement the actions without council's approval. "Even if we vote no, I think it's still going to happen because of the financial stability agreement," said City Council President Charles Pugh.
The nine-member board was formed under a consent agreement between the city and state.
