NH officials charge 24-year-old man in Portsmouth mall fight

PORTSMOUTH, NH (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A 24-year-old New Hampshire man is facing felony second degree assault charges for his alleged connection to a fight inside a Portsmouth mall that left one man with a fractured skull.

Josiah Mayo is accused of meeting another male inside the Vaughn Mall after both men exited the Page Bar and Restaurant on July 15. Witnesses reported seeing a black male with curly hair and a black shirt punch and kick the injured male.

Police arrived to the scene after the fight to find the victim unconscious with a head injury. He was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital where he was admitted to the intensive care unit with a fractured skull and other injuries.

Investigators have since obtained an arrest warrant for Mayo. He is currently being held by Maine officials on a probation violation, but will be arrested by New Hampshire officials in the near future.

Mayo is facing felony second degree assault for allegedly kicking the victim in the face.
