Exeter Hep. C testing canceled

Posted: Updated:

New Hampshire health officials have cancelled hepatitis C testing clinics that were scheduled for July 28 and 29.

Officials said they were canceling the clinics because there wasn't enough time to set them up.

More than three thousand patients of Exeter Hospital were due to be tested after officials said they may have been exposed by a former employee.

David Matthew Kwiatkowski is accused of infecting at least 30 individuals with hepatitis C at the hospital. Kwiatkowski, who has hepatitis C, began working at the hospital in April 2011 as a temporary employee. He previously worked as a traveling technician.

Investigators said Kwiatkowski stole the anesthetic fentanyl. They believe he injected himself with fentanyl, replaced it with saline solution and injected patients.
