A raffle and dinner was held at the Irish Cottage restaurant in Methuen to benefit Ben Bertini on Thursday.
Bertini was the youngest victim of a fireworks explosion at a relative's house on July 3. He was among 13 people injured in the blast and was the most seriously injured having suffered burns on 27 percent of his body.
Following the explosion, Bertini was flown by medical helicopter to a Boston-area hospital where he spent 10 days in a medically induced coma. He has undergone a series of skin graft procedures, the latest happened on Monday. Relatives told FOX 25 News that he was improving.
More than $20,000 was raised for Bertini. Relatives said the money would be used so his mother can stay home and take care of him when he is released from the hospital.
