CHELMSFORD (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A former $1 million lottery winner and Chelmsford business owner has been charged with Larceny.

Michael Santaniello, the owner of Mike's Oil Service, was charged with three counts of larceny over $250, larceny by check and larceny by false pretenses in Lowell District Court on Friday.

Prosecutors said Santaniello targeted elderly customers and took deposits for work he never intended to do. Officials said he stole more than $13 thousand from more than a dozen people and agreed to sell a trailer to two different people but never furnished the property.

Investigators said his victims were residents of Bedford, Burlington, Billerica, Lexington and Wilmington.

Police eventually caught up with Santaniello when they arrested him Tuesday in Allenstown, N.H.

Santaniello won $1 million three years ago in the state lottery. He won another $23,000 from the lottery between August 2009 and June 2011.

He will be in court again in late August.
