BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts lawmakers must work quickly to pass a number of priority bills before the formal legislative session ends Tuesday at midnight.
Among the bills are proposals to lower spiraling health care costs in the state, fund transportation and infrastructure projects and spur economic development by both funding research at state universities and creating an online resource for businesses.
House Speaker Robert DeLeo says in a statement that he hopes to end the session by passing these high-profile bills.
David Falcone, a spokesman for Senate President Therese Murray, says that storm response, prescription drug abuse and energy costs legislation round out of the priorities of Senate leadership heading into the final days of session.
