Needham man struck, killed by motorist in Randolph

Posted: Updated:

RANDOLPH (AP) - A man who authorities say struck and killed a Needham man on Route 24 in Randolph says he thought he'd hit a deer.

State police say the man contacted them Sunday after learning authorities were seeking the driver of a red car seen near the accident. The man says he knew he'd struck something, but thought it was a deer.

No charges have been filed against him at this time.

Adam T. Trudeau was on foot at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday when he was struck. Police say he may have been standing in the middle lane of the road, facing oncoming traffic when he was hit.

State Police say the car that hit Trudeau initially stopped but left before the driver spoke to police.

An investigation is continuing.
