1 of 2 brothers stabbed in Wareham dies

Posted: Updated:

WAREHAM (AP) - Wareham police say authorities plan on charging a local teenager with murder now that one of the two brothers he's accused of stabbing has died.

Police say 18-year-old Brendon Mahoney died at a hospital at about 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Mahoney and his 19-year-old brother Brian, both of Bridgewater, were found lying in a dirt road suffering from stab wounds at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Both were taken to the hospital where Brian Mahoney remains in critical condition.

Eighteen-year-old Bryan Grassie was arrested several hours later and charged with the stabbings. He was held without bail after pleading not guilty at his arraignment Monday. Grassie claimed the Mahoneys were the aggressors.

Witnesses told police that Grassie crashed a house party and stabbed the Mahoneys after he was told to leave.
