Children under the age of 18 have been able to get body piercing in New York without parental consent. But the law has just been changed -- a year after Fox 5's Arnold Diaz first exposed the legal loophole.

New York parents have long wanted laws regulating kids getting body piercings. Doctors testified how dangerous piercings could be.

But it still took almost 15 years for state legislators to finally get a law passed. The legislation includes all body piercings -- except ear piercings.

The new measure goes into effect in 90 days.
