Rally canceled for coach accused of drinking with underage players

Posted: Updated:

PLYMOUTH (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A rally for a Plymouth coach accused of giving alcohol to his players has been canceled.

Plymouth North baseball and football coach Dwayne Follette was under investigation following an anonymous letter sent to the school by a parent claiming he gave his players shots and even played drinking games with them during an end of year party.
Earlier this week, police suspended their investigation for lack of evidence and after the unidentified parent refused to speak with them.

Some supporters of the coach believe a disgruntled parent made up the story because of the lack of playing time for their child.
A "Support Coach Follette" Facebook page has been created. It already has more than 1,500 members since it was created yesterday.
The rally was set for 6 p.m. at the high school. FOX 25 News' Ted Daniel reported that Follette had reached an agreement with the school. Daniel reported that the Follette was "pleased" with the agreement.
