Buy Michigan Now Festival to feature locally produced beers

Posted: Updated:
NORTHVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) -

The Buy Michigan Now Festival is going on all weekend long in downtown Northville.  What's new this year is a beer and wine tent.

"We're featuring beer, wine, mead and cider from all Michigan producers.  Primarily featuring our local brewery, Liberty Street Brewing Company, along with three other Michigan breweries, a meadery that's local, as well as Northville Cidery, which is right in town," said John.  "So we're featuring just a wide variety of different Michigan beers and trying to promote the culture of better beer that we live and breathe on a daily basis and show the consumer that we're doing really cool things with beer here in Michigan."

How does the beer tent work price wise?

"It's a $3 nominal fee at the door.  The money goes to benefit some local charities involved here in Northville, and beer, wine mead, it's all sold by the glass.  We're raising a lot of money for the chamber of commerce to do some different special events and give back to the community here in Northville."

"We're really happy to be involved with this event.  It is just three miles away from where we produce our beer, so we're trying to promote buying local at this festival, and we're about as local as it gets for craft beer to Northville," said Joe with Liberty Street Brewing Company.
