BOSTON (AP) - State police say a 4-year-old girl has suffered life-threatening injuries and a 24-year-old Malden woman was seriously injured in a two-car crash in the Tip O'Neill Tunnel in Boston.
Police said early Sunday morning an SUV carrying the child swerved left after the driver of a Chevy Malibu tried to move into that lane from another lane.
The child was partially ejected and taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Malden woman was also ejected and taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. A total of seven people were transported to area hospitals.
Fatima Terif, 29, of East Boston, the driver of the vehicle that caused the other vehicle to swerve, has been issued a civil citation for marked lanes violation.
Axel Delgado, 26, of Malden, the operator of the other vehicle, was summonsed for driving with a suspended license and a child passenger seatbelt violation.
The crash remains under investigation and additional charges may follow at a further date.
