BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – The Boston Police Department plans to overhaul their promotion process after it's been criticized for keeping minorities from the top positions, according to The Boston Globe.
Commissioner Ed Davis is expected to announce a more than $2 million initiative Thursday that would replace the written exam with a different system that would include interviews.
The new process will be designed to better gauge the leadership abilities of candidates.
Among the BPD's two dozen captains, there is only one minority and no women.
