Westgate Mall remains open after flooding threatens tax free weekend

Posted: Updated:

BROCKTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) The Westgate Mall in Brockton remained open on Saturday morning after flood waters threatened one popular store's participation in the tax free holiday weekend.

Best Buy was forced to close at 6:45 p.m. on Friday night after the store's loading dock flooded causing water to enter the store. FOX 25 viewers sent in pictures of the Westgate Mall parking lots in the area of Best Buy and Market Basket where flood waters nearly reached above car tires.

An official at the mall says the flooding also impacted the parking lot near Macy's and Sears after the parking lot drains were not able to handle nearly three inches of heavy rainfall.

The following stores at Westgate will operate under extended hours during tax free weekend:

- Best Buy Sat. 7am-10pm Sun. 9am-10pm
- CW Price Sat. 9am-9pm Sun. 11am-6pm
- Macy's Sat. 9am-9:30pm Sun. 10am-8pm
- Sears Sat. 6am-11pm Sun. 7am-10pm
