BOSTON (AP) - While much of the focus in Massachusetts' U.S. Senate race has been on big money donors, there is another fundraising battle for donors who tend to give in smaller amounts.
It's a contest that could give an edge to Democrat Elizabeth Warren as she works to unseat Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown.
An Associated Press review of campaign finance reports finds that while both candidates raked in large donations, Warren appears to have better luck attracting money from small donors.
That means the Harvard Law professor can return to those backers again and again before they give the maximum allowed under law.
Through the end of June, about 44 percent of the money Warren raised came from individuals who had contributed less than $200 compared with about 18 percent for Brown.
