
Two people died following a crash on Route 125 in Andover Friday evening.
State police said a 72-year-old woman driving a black car was attempting to pull onto Route 125 from Wildwood Road when her vehicle was struck by a pickup truck. Police said the force of the crash pushed the car off the roadway.
The woman was flown by medical helicopter to Beth Israel Hospital where she later died. A passenger in the woman's car, an 82-year-old man, was taken to Lawrence General Hospital where he died. The driver of the truck was not injured.
The northbound side of Route 125 was closed for a time, but was reopened just before 8 p.m.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known. An investigation is ongoing.
