Posted: Updated:

MALDEN (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) Malden Police are investigating two shootings that occurred in Malden on Saturday.

The first shooting occurred in the area of Cross and Ferry streets at around 2:30 a.m. A 28-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries in the shooting. Police believe this was not a random attack.

The second shooting occurred in the area of Ryan Family Amusements on Middlesex Avenue just before 4 p.m. Officials say the victim sustained a non-life threatening wound to his leg.

Mayor Gary Christenson commented on the shootings at the scene of the second incident on Saturday night.

"We should be all concerned, of course, about what is going on in our community and other communities around us," says Mayor Christenson.

Christenson assures the community that he is working with law enforcement officials to find reasons and solutions for a recent spike in violence moving forward.
