NORTHAMPTON (AP) - A western Massachusetts woman has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after admitting she didn't contact authorities when she found out her husband was sexually assaulting a young girl.
Mackenzie Tarjick entered her plea in Hampshire Superior Court on Aug. 13, but sentencing was delayed until Monday.
Tarjick received a 2½ year sentence, with 18 months to serve, followed by 15 years of probation.
Authorities say the 34-year-old Middlefield woman learned in 2009 that her husband, Aaron Tarjick, had abused the girl for four years, starting when the girl was 9. Prosecutors called the abuse "horrific."
The Tarjicks are no longer married. Mackenzie Tarjick is 4 months pregnant.
Aaron Tarjick was convicted in June on multiple charges, including aggravated
rape, and sentenced to 19 to 25 years in prison.
