CAMBRIDGE (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A water main break that occurred Wednesday morning in the area of JFK Street in Cambridge is causing traffic delays that will last into the afternoon.
Police in Cambridge told FOX 25 that the water main, which is approximately 20 inches in length, ruptured around 8 a.m.
Construction crews are working in that area; however, police did not say what caused the water main break.
Police have closed JFK Street between Mt. Auburn Street and Harvard Square. They have set up a detour and are sending traffic up Mt. Auburn Street onto Holyoke Street to Massachusetts Avenue.
If possible, police are asking people to seek alternate routes.
