UMass Lowell student found unresponsive at Scituate residence

SCITUATE (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A 20-year-old male was found unresponsive at 153 Clapp Rd. in Scituate early Sunday morning.

Tyler Gothie, of Manchester, did not have a pulse when responding officers arrived at the residence around 12:21 a.m.  Officers initiated CPR until the paramedics arrived. 

Gothie was transported to South Shore Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The circumstances surrounding Gothie's death are being investigated by the Scituate Police Dept., as well as Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.

According to Gothie's obituary, Tyler was born in Yokosuka, Japan and grew up in Manchester-by-the-Sea. He was a 2010 graduate of Manchester-Essex High School where he was a member of the Debate Team.  He also played basketball and golf.

Tyler was currently entering his junior year at UMASS Lowell as an English Major.
