LINCOLN PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police are still working to sort out a mess. Did a big lottery winner pay to have her neighbors attacked? Meanwhile, four people have been charged so far in connection to the case.

"She's using her money to try to kill us," Candace Combs said Wednesday.

A month long battle between neighbors blew up over grass clippings, and there are two sides to every story.

Combs claims her boyfriend and family were attacked by her neighbor and her friends, that neighbor being the notorious lottery winner convicted of welfare fraud.

The family claims she plotted and paid for an attack against them that involved a knife, bat and a gun.

"Next thing I know, we're sitting here on the porch. She pulls up in front of the house and says ... 'I'm getting my gun, and I'm bring my people back with me,'" Combs told us.

"I got a direct blow right across my head and my neck, and then one on the side of my head. That's when he ran away from me and started swinging on the girls with the bat. So I said enough is enough. So I ran up to him and grabbed the bat off of him. That's when he pulled out his gun and stuck it right to my face," said Victor Bartolo.

Come to find out that gun was an Airsoft gun and that family wasn't as innocent as they claim.

26-year-old Saliah Alghami and 24-year-old Jesse Hill have been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. Thursday, two others were charged with the same crime, but from the so called victim's family -- Samantha Benefield and Ashley Combs.

Police are still investigating and trying to determine if Amanda Clayton hired the hit men. She told us no when we asked her about that on Wednesday.

We talked to Rachel Hill, who backs that story. She said she was there and they were victims. The three men were coming over for a barbeque.

"They want to make my husband look like he's a hit man? Yeah, they said I got paid off," she told us. "That's a lie. Like I said, we were having a barbeque. I pull up. All these people come charging at my car."

In fact, this sister of one of the alleged attackers claims Clayton wasn't the mastermind. She was the target.

Again, police are still investigating. So far, no charges have been brought against Clayton, but it's not clear because of her involvement with the physical fight if she violated her probation in connection to that welfare fraud case.
