BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – City leaders in Boston say they were given no warning about a new state law that will allow pit bulls to go unmuzzled in the city.
Governor Deval Patrick recently signed a new law banning all breed specific ordinances in Massachusetts. That means Boston, Lowell and other cities can no longer place restrictions on pit bull owners or force them to be muzzled.
Boston passed its pit bull bill ordinance in 2004 after a series of attacks, but now that will be null and void when the state law takes effect on November 1.
Pit bull supporters say this is discrimination.
