(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – An Attleboro woman and her 4-year-old son are alive and well thanks to the quick response of bystanders waiting to board the Red Line at Kendall Station.
The woman, Meera Thakrar, of Attleboro, told an MBTA Red Line Inspector that she had seen a train berthed on the northbound platform and believed she could board it from the southbound side.
Video surveillance captured the 37-year-old Thakrar and her son walking off the edge of the southbound platform around 6 p.m. on Wednesday. As soon as bystanders realized she and her son were on the tracks, they jumped down and helped get them back onto the platform.
Thakrar and her son did not have any visible injuries, but were taken to Mass General Hospital for evaluation.
The MBTA would like to thank the bystanders for their quick response, but would also like to remind patrons that it is always best to notify an MBTA employee so they can shut off power to the third rail which is electrified.
