Cyclist killed in Wellesley hit-and-run identified, driver interviewed

WELLESLEY (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) The bicyclist killed in a hit-and-run crash in Wellesley on Friday has been identified.

Wellesley police identify the cyclist as 41-year-old Alexander Motsenigos, of Wellesley.

Motsenigos was headed north on Weston Road near Linden Street just before 2 p.m. when he was hit by a car that was also headed north. He was taken to Newton-Wellesley Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Motsenigos was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

After reviewing video footage from area traffic cameras, investigators identified the vehicle that may have been involved in the accident.  They interviewed the apparent operator of the vehicle; however, information pertaining to the identity of the operator and the vehicle has not been released.

The video confirmed that both the bicyclist and the truck were traveling north on Weston Road from Central Street.

The video footage also shows a vehicle which is not believed to be involved in the crash, but may have witnessed it.   The witness vehicle is an older model, grey four-door Volvo station wagon with a roof rack and moon roof. It appears the car has damage to the rear driver's side door.
