At least one RNC protestor apparently didn't get the memo about prohibited items in the Tampa event zone.
Jason Wilson of Tallahassee was arrested Sunday afternoon after deputies say they spotted him walking along with a full-sized machete strapped to his leg.
Deputies said Wilson, 31, initially ignored their attempts to stop him, then told them he could carry whatever he wanted. He resisted arrest, deputies said, but was eventually taken into custody.
Machetes are on a long list of items that are prohibited in downtown Tampa for the Republican Convention.
Tampa police said an unscheduled protest involving 200 people gathered at Gaslight Park, then moved peacefully around downtown without incident Sunday afternoon.
