
BOURNE (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A 41-year-old Wareham
man died from injuries he sustained jumping off the Bourne Bridge
on Monday morning.
Massachusetts State Police recovered the body from the Cape
Cod Canal around 9:25 a.m.
The man was transported to Tobey
Hospital in Wareham where the he was pronounced dead.
Initial investigation and examination revealed no signs of fatal trauma beyond what
he sustained from entering the water. His death has been ruled a suicide.
Witnesses told police that the victim began scaling the fence near the bridge and before emergency crews could arrive at the scene the man had jumped.
Members of the Massachusetts State Police, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Coast Guard all responded to the incident.
