
FOXBORO (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A 13-year-old was airlifted to Tufts Medical Center with injuries after being struck by a landscaping truck in Foxboro on Monday.
Officials said the teen was riding a bike on Baker Street near Chestnut Street around 1 p.m. when he collided with the truck. The collision caused the teen to be thrown from the bicycle approximately 20 feet before landing on the pavement.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the 28-year-old driver of the truck, Sean Fitzgerald, was travelling eastbound on Chestnut Street and took a right hand turn onto Baker Street. A short time later, the vehicle struck the bicyclist who was attempting to cross the street.
The child suffered internal injuries and several skin abrasions from the crash. He was flown to Tufts Medical Center Boston by Med-Flight.
The teen's name will not be released at this time and his medical condition is unknown.
Fitzgerald, a resident of Foxboro, was transported to the police department for questioning. He was released and no charges are pending.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
