NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) — The Coast Guard is continuing to search for a 17-year-old who was last seen Monday night in Newport Harbor.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Robert Simpson says Theodore Oliviera was seen by friends taking a motorized dinghy into the harbor around 11:30 p.m.
Simpson says a friend told his mother Tuesday around 7:30 p.m., and she called the Coast Guard around 8 p.m.
The Coast Guard searched overnight, and continues to look Wednesday. They are using rescue boats and a helicopter and getting help from rescue crews from Portsmouth, Newport, Middletown, Warwick, Jamestown and North Kingstown.
