FORT MILL, S.C. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) — A South Carolina woman was arrested for allegedly giving her 4-year-old son shots of beer at a bar south of Charlotte.

The Charlotte Observer reports 44-year-old Gretchen Lynn Kinnear was taken into custody after witnesses told police they saw giving the child sample shots of beer at McHale's Irish Pub in Fort Mill.

The boy reportedly told sheriff deputies his mom said the drink was "tea" and that it "tasted funny and made him laugh a lot." He also said his mother gave him "tea" at home that made him feel "dizzy."

Kinnear was booked into the York County Detention Center for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She was later released on $3,000 bond.

The boy is now being cared for by a couple that regularly babysits him.
