Some strip clubs in Windsor are trying to entice some fresh new workers. If you agree to take your clothes off on stage, the clubs will pay part of your college tuition.
Clubs like Cheetah's and Leopard's have offered tuition reimbursement for years, but because of a new law, Canadian clubs are pushing this program harder than ever.
"It's about getting a better caliber of dancers, somebody that has goals that are going to use us as a stepping stone," said Barry Maroon, general manager of Leopard's.
They're not just looking for hotties. They want girls who are focused on the future, able to earn an A+ on a poll and in the classroom.
"We pay $1750 per semester, and they have to maintain a B+ average."
Maroon said in his club it's nothing new. Has he had a lot of woman who have taken advantage of the program?
"Absolutely. They still keep in contact with me the girls now that own their own businesses, that are nurses in L.A. for example. One of our dancers just moved to L.A. and she's a registered nurse," he said. "If we had a dancer that was working for us and wanted to go to hairdressing school, we would help them out with that."
However, there is another reason why these clubs are being so helpful. They are desperate for dancers. A new law makes it illegal for them to hire women from other countries. Many of those who are dancing on work visas will be forced to leave.
How many dancers is Maroon losing?
"32," he said.
So they're trying to reach Canadian women by advertising in newspapers and on Facebook.
Some people say that dancing in a lot of ways can become a trap for some women. What does Maroon have to say about that?
"That's why we offer these kind of incentives so that it's not and that we get a better caliber of entertainer."
And what's a better caliber entertainer for him?
"A smart girl with that's looking ahead," Maroon said. "We're trying to find dancers that want to be better."
If you're wondering if women are actually interested in this, Leopard's has four perspective dancers coming in this weekend.
