(WJBK) -
The American Coney Island Coney Dog Eating Challenge will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at American Coney Island on East Lafayette in downtown Detroit.
Individuals and teams of six will compete to consume the most Coney dogs. That means hot dog, bun, chili, mustard and onions, in 10 minutes. While the winners will receive trophies and prizes from a variety of local retailers, restaurants and other supporters, including a year of free meals at American Coney Island, the real winners will be the students in the culinary program at Golightly Vocational and Technical Center in the Detroit Public Schools thanks to the scholarship program being funded by sponsorships, revenues and donations through the event.
