FAIRHAVEN (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) Residents in Fairhaven have been warned about reported shark sightings in the area.

The Fairhaven harbormaster tells FOX 25 that there have recently been unconfirmed sightings of sharks in the West Island area.

Due to confirmed seal sightings in that area, officials notified residents of the reports in a reverse 911 call.

The harbormaster sent two patrol boats into the water on Saturday in an attempt to confirm the reports.
