Wellfleet Police reportedly seize $4K worth of drugs during traffic stop

WELLFLEET (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A 55-year-old Wellfleet man is facing several charges after police accused him of carrying illegal drugs and weapons during a traffic stop.

Police stopped a car driven by Louis Almonte shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday. During the stop, police found that Almonte was driving with a suspended license and took him into custody.

While inspecting the vehicle, police claim they found prescription pills, cocaine, and several weapons. Investigators place the value of the seized drugs at $4,000.

Almonte has been charged with operating after suspension, giving a false name to a police officer, possession with intent to distribute class B, C, and E drugs, as well as possession of a dangerous weapon. The 55-year-old is being held on cash bail until his arraignment on Tuesday.
