CONCORD, N.H. (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A 19-year-old was killed in a car crash early Sunday morning when the stolen vehicle that she was traveling in left the roadway and struck several trees.

The Tilton and Northfield Police Departments became involved in the motor vehicle pursuit in Northfield around 2: 45 a.m.

The vehicle, which was being driven by 18-year-old Robert Pitts, of Weare, N.H., was traveling on I-93 South at Exit 19 and continued south with officers from both departments pursuing him.

As the vehicle neared Exit 17E around 2:52 a.m., Pitts took the off-ramp and failed to negotiate the corner. He lost control of the car and went of the roadway hitting several trees before coming to a rest.

The passenger, Paige Garneau, of Laconia, N.H., was transported to Concord Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Pitts who was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries is facing several charges, including negligent homicide and disobeying a police officer resulting in personal injury.

Bail was set at $200,000 cash.

Pitts will be held at the Merrimack House of Corrections until his arraignment on Tuesday.
