WEYMOUTH (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A Hull man is voicing his plans to file a lawsuit against a dog day care in Weymouth after his 6-year-old English bulldog died at the facility last week.
Guy Reynolds left his bulldog, Cooper, at the Land of Pawz on Thursday after his normal day care facility closed for a few days. Thursday was Cooper's sixth birthday.
When Reynolds arrived back at the Land of Pawz on Thursday afternoon, he found his beloved pet's body laying under a blanket in the facility's yard.
Reynolds rushed the dog to the VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in South Weymouth. Attempts to revive Cooper were unsuccessful and a veterinarian blamed the dog's death on heat exhaustion.
Less than a week after Cooper's death, Reynolds is looking into suing the Land of Pawz. He says the day care did not call animal control or try to take the dog to the animal hospital whent he found the dog in a lethargic state in the yard.
Reynolds says that while the suit will not bring Cooper back, it could help other dog owners avoid a similar tragedy.
The animal control officer told FOX 25 on Tuesday that the day care's license has been revoked following Cooper's death.
