FRAMINGHAM (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A 26-year-old man was arraigned on several charges Tuesday stemming from an Aug. 25 shooting in Framingham.
Damon Johnson faces charges that include armed assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, possession of a firearm without a firearms identification card, larceny from a building, home invasion, carrying a firearm without a license, intimidating a witness, and receiving stolen property.
Johnson is accused of entering an apartment on Richardson Circle just before 4:30 p.m. and shooting a 30-year-old man. Investigators allege that the shooting was the result of an altercation the night before. The victim was treated and released from the hospital for his injuries.
Several law enforcement agencies began a massive search for a suspect following the shooting. Framingham State University was placed under lock down in the hours after the incident. State Police received an update around 7:15 p.m. that the search had been called off and that law enforcement did not have a suspect in custody.
On September 2, police arrested Johnson in Tewksbury. His wife, 23-year-old Sondra Johnson, was also arrested and charged with possession of Class B drug with intent to distribute, intimidating a witness, being an accessory after the fact, and receiving stolen property. Investigators accuse Sondra Johnson of assisting her husband in fleeing the scene and lying to police about his whereabouts.
Damon Johnson was held on $50,000 cash bail with conditions that he not commit a crime, have no possession of guns or weapons, stay away from the victim and witness, stay away from drugs and submit to random screenings.
