Humidity this week ahead of fall air next

Posted: Updated:

FOX 25 meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon says this week will finish on the humid side as cool, fall air moves in next week.

Fitzgibbon said that on Thursday temperatures will be in the upper 70s to low 80s with a fair amount of humidity. Thursday was also expected to be dry, unlike Wednesday where tropical downpours were the rule.

On Wednesday Fall River saw 5.24 inches of rain, bringing some flash floods to the area. Drivers were shocked to see the water level rise to their car windows at some points.

The skies will also be clear on Thursday, Fitzgibbon said.

There was the threat of a stray shower later in the day as a frontal boundary moves closer to Massachusetts. Fitzgibbon said she expected that system to fall apart as it moved through the Berkshires, but wouldn't rule out the possibility of a pop-up shower or two in the state.

As for the weekend, Fitzgibbon said Saturday will be the better day. Showers were expected on Sunday ahead of a fall chill for the beginning of next week. Temperatures were forecast for the low 70s.
