(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – It's a long running debate among sleepless parents: should you let your baby cry it out or pick them up and sooth them?
New research suggests that letting a baby settle themselves does not have negative long-term effects.
Scientists found that kids who fell asleep on their own when they were infants were no different emotionally from kids who had a little help from mom and dad.
The study also suggests that there's no difference between the two groups in the degree of closeness between children and their parents.
The findings appear in The Journal of Pediatrics.
