A crash involving several cars and two trucks on the southbound side of Interstate 495 caused a major backup in Lowell Tuesday morning.
Traffic was at a standstill for nearly 10 miles at Exit 37 after Woburn Street. The Total Traffic Network reported delays of more than two hours.
Total Traffic said a truck hauling gravel crashed into another truck and several cars. The gravel truck spilled some of its load onto the highway, causing the delays.
The northbound side of the highway was also delayed for a short time.
The gravel was cleared after a time and traffic was moving in all lanes at 8:45 a.m.
