(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – The first black president
of the Boston City Council died early Tuesday morning at his home in Roxbury.
Bruce Bolling, 67, had fought a long battle with
prostate cancer. He was the son of
Massachusetts Senator Royal Bolling. His
brother, Royal Bolling, Jr., served as a state representative.
Bolling spent 12 years on the Boston City Council,
including a two-year term as president in the mid-1980s.
Boston
City Council President Stephen Murphy released a statement calling Bolling a "man
of great vision, integrity, and courage." Murphy added, "Boston is poorer for Bolling's passing."
