(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – It's still shark season on the Cape.
The state Division of Marine Fisheries closed down Lighthouse Beach to swimmers until further notice after data showed buoys in Chatham Harbor had been visited by great white sharks on August 30 and September 9. They also tagged an estimated 20-foot shark leaving the harbor Thursday morning.
In addition, the Cape Cod shark hunters reported spotting six great whites just Thursday. Three of those were previously tagged, but two new ones were also tagged measuring 18 and 16 feet.
Several east facing beaches in Chatham were closed before Labor Day. They remain closed until further notice.
